How the scalp micropigmentation works

The procedure begins with your service provider inserting pigments into your skin using a tattoo instrument. The needle must be inserted deep enough to achieve desired results. 

The scalp is thicker than the skin on other body areas. And scalp conditions can vary per person. The ideal amount of pigment to be delivered also varies depending on several factors, such as the needle type and scalp condition. 

If the pigment is inserted only on the epidermis, or the outermost layer of the skin, it may leak after a few days. If it’s too deep, on the other hand, the pigment may spread outside of the target area.  

Unlike traditional tattooing, we place tiny dots on the area to replicate hair follicles. Here at BioTouch Canada, we use our very own Silvera Machine and #1 prong needle for the procedure.

We tailor the pigment type and color to match your natural hair as closely as possible. We don’t use black as it can turn blue over time.

• Arrange your schedule for the day as the procedure can last from 4-5 hours.
• Plan activities accordingly because excessive sweating can affect treatment results.

After the procedure

• Skip the sauna or extremely hot showers and swimming
• Avoid exposure to sunlight.
• Postpone rigorous physical activities or exercises.

Does the procedure hurt? 

We apply a numbing agent to the treatment area to reduce discomfort or pain. You may still experience some discomfort during the procedure, and the level can vary depending on your pain tolerance. 

How long does it take to see results and how long do results last?

You’ll see a huge difference right after your first session, but to achieve full results, you may require 3-4 treatments. We determine the number of treatments for your goals during your initial consultation. 

Scalp micropigmentation can last for years, but several factors can impact its longevity. Excessive exposure to sunlight, for instance, can cause the pigments to lighten earlier. Having dry skin can also cause the pigments to fade more quickly.
